Job Description :
Overall Purpose

To be responsible for the management and ongoing development of the financial processing, analysis and reporting of various income streams and return on investment performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* To manage all aspects of group income and return on investment reporting including the collation and analysis of high volumes of complex data, interpreting trends and variances from budgets and forecasts with a view to providing timely and meaningful insight into monthly performance for reporting at all levels up to and including group/consolidated level for the Trustees and Executive Board;
* To manage the integrity of our software systems interface between the CRM income processing system and our Accounting Software ensuring reconciliation processes are maintained effectively, exception reporting is monitored and suitable action taken when necessary;
* To manage all aspects of the Project Ledger connected with Fundraising appeals including the completeness of expenditure therein, working with the income generation teams to ensure all costs connected with their activity are correctly coded at source within our purchasing systems and exceptions dealt with on a timely basis;
* Working closely with the management to provide financial analysis and interpretation of income performance to aid decision making in assessing existing and new initiatives;
* To manage the preparation and reconciliation of claims making adjustments to the management accounts as required;
* Manage the daily banking and cash handling processes of all income received through all departments including the secure banking thereof;
* To manage all aspects of recording, reconciling and reporting restricted funding including liaison with all departments as necessary to ensure timely updates of restricted funding accounts are reported to project managers.
* Management of direct credit process (SO’s/GAYE) to ensure all income is correctly uploaded to CRM software and supporter’s records correctly reflect gifts received;
* To manage and develop the banking processes for all offsite depts to ensure monthly banking processes are adhered to and monthly reconciliations take place.
* Provide leadership to, manage, motivate, recruit, train and develop staff in line with the organisation's strategic aims and objectives;
* To carry out any other reasonable duty as may be required.

Additional Duties

* To provide cover for the other Assistant Management Accountant and the Management Accountant where necessary.

Responsible to: Management Accountant

Responsible for: Accounts Clerk - Income

Communication Links


Executives/cost centre managers – to answer queries on monthly Cost Centre Manager Reports;

Creditcard holders – to resolve queries on credit card statements;

Facilities Manager – to resolve queries which may arise from sales processing;

HR – payroll/HR queries


Payment Card Merchant Services – resolving PDQ machine queries & ordering new machines

Auditors – providing information as and when requested

Secure cash handlers in connection with banking & cash handling processes


21 hours per week, either 3 full days or 5 shorter days per week. However, due to the strict management reporting deadlines, extra hours may be required during month end processing. This is a multi-site, 7-day operation and therefore there may be some requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation.
